The Keys - Part C - Marathon Key

Leaving Key West and the southernmost point in the continental US behind we headed back up US 1 to Curry Hammock State Park. The most beautiful and well maintained park so far, it has the most gorgeous sun-drenched beach just 50 feet away.

G made fast friends with a little girl called Jasmine and her family from Miami and we all played and wallowed in the clear, warm shallow water until the sun beat us back to Eagle.

Karen led us on a morning kayak trip out to an enormous sand bar the next morning and Gigi almost capsized us a couple of times which freaked us out a bit since Karen saw a fin nearby! A two-year-old doesn't really understand that standing up in a kayak in shark-infested waters doesn't work.
On the whole, this is a beautiful place and we could easily have stayed a little longer.
